Caleb Williams, have a good day. The current Heisman Trophy winner improved on a strong showing in Week 0 by raising the bar in Week 1.

Caleb Williams Performance Leads USC To A Win Against Nevada: Heisman Frontrunner

Williams helped the Trojans go to 2-0 in the early season by completing 18 of 24 passes for 318 yards and five touchdowns in a 66-14 demolition of Nevada.

He completed 18 of 24 attempts, rushed for 42 yards, and added yet another impressive escape and precise completion to his resume.

Williams once managed to get by the defence in the backfield and complete a deep throw while edging out of bounds close to the sideline.

In a subsequent play, Williams threw a similar ball to elude the defensive pressure in the backfield once more, this time for a score.

The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback’s touchdown throws to Zachariah Branch, Michael Jackson III, and Brenden Rice were also caught by the Trojans (2-0), who followed up their destruction of San Jose State with another thumping of a Mountain West opponent at the Coliseum.

Riley’s tenure saw USC gain the most yards (668), and the team scored the most points (66) in a game.

“I’m proud of both sides (of the ball),” Riley said. “A few plays here and there that we’re going to want back, that we know we have to continue to clean up, but we took a step this week.”

“He’s improving,” Riley said. “I can’t say I’m disappointed with how he’s played, but he’s got to get better. … Everybody wants to look at the score and just write the story, and there’s so much to it. There are some things he’s done really well, especially the situational ball, and some understandings defensively have improved, but we’ve had a handful of plays in both games that we both want back, that we’ve got to go get and not leave on the table.”

Williams wasn’t accessible to the media after the game thanks to USC.

Fans now think USC may be a College Football Playoff contender because of Williams’ performance, and they also think he has a good chance of becoming only the second player in history to win two Heismans. There also was some mention of where he could potentially be playing on Sundays very soon.
